ford 256t engine

I think all the Ford combines were Claas that were painted blue, and used there own engines. I might be wrong though.

Ford SP combines were made by Claas, as Rufus said, but they did use Ford engines. None of them were 256 turbos, though. The 620 and 622 used n/a 256's in gas or diesel - mostly gas. The bigger ones used Ford's Dorset industrial diesels or 6 cylinder or V8 gas engines.

Don't know I do know I was at our Ford tractor dealer about 30 years ago to get something for one of the club's tractors and some guy with a uniform that had Mercedes Benz logos on his shirt came in and announced he was there to fix the combine engine, the parts lady paged back to service to get someone to take him out to the combine. The other patch on the shirt was the folks that started selling MB trucks there in Lansing Michigan.

30 years ago would have been after Ford quit having Claas build Ford combines, and Ford dealers could sell Claas combines. Most of them did have Mercedes engines.

I'm not sure what the combines had. If you need an engine you'd be just as well finding one from any vintage of 7000 on through to a 76/7710 regardless if it's a 256 or 268. There's also a slew of those engines out there in A62 wheel loaders, the larger Ford backhoes and a certain amount of Valmet forestry gear like forwarders and processors from that vintage. No guarantee that there's anything left of them after coming from a forwarder though.
