What ratio of 24d do you fellows mix per gallon of water to spray brush. Anybody mixing roundup with 24d. I am trying to kill about 10 acres infested with honey locust sprouts after cutting larger locust trees. Thanks Bill

I use 2 qt 2,4d and 1 qt crossbow in a 55 gallon sprayer for fencerow. This is used to kill alot of tough stuff like multifora rose. I dont like roundup for fence rows because I want grass to grow on the fence row to help choke out the weeds.

Information from our NRCS recommends 2-4-D + 2-4-DP i.e., Patron 170 for black locust. Try Keystone Pest solutions.com; they may have a generic.

crossbow only 1 qt per 20 gallons water any optehr mixture will weaken it and waste money and we sell chemicals amd use them

Crossbow is 24d but it has some additives in it that make it better for brush and any woody stuff. Its expensive though. I think like $70 a gallon, where straight 24d is about the same price for 2.5 gallon. The genaric is called crossroad, or at least thats what they have where I get it.

Locust is a CLONE, all of those trees that you
cut are connected by underground roots. Cutting
stresses the clone to reproduce, that"s why it
puts out suckers !

I learned that the hard way. I've been killing root suckers for 3 years now. Only a couple of this year so I think I finally won the battle but talk about a tree that won't give up easily. :?

George just got son of a former employee who has custom spray busines who will spray in august. apparently should be sprayed a little later when plant is storing sap toward root for winter Not while its trying to grow by pushing nutrients up tom grow taller

"Read the label... anything else is illegal?" Great. I can hear the Herbicide Police sirens now.

The stupid book that came with my quart bottle of 2-4-D from Tractor supply only lists in "ounces per acre." Like I'm going to go out and spray the back 40 or something...

I just want to mix up a gallon to burn back the poison sumac in the back yard!

Read the whole book. What's my acreage? What's my application rate? It's a frickin' 1-gallon hand pump sprayer, not a Ro-Gator. I walk along, and when I see a sumac poking up out of the ground, I spray it!
