WAY O/t: wagons, carriages other mule drawn vehicles

I'm 64 and want a new hobby and business.I have a burro and a mule that I enjoy and have broke to harness. Is there a website or publication that has private sale items? anyone doing it that can make an insurance recomendation? I'd like to make this transition soon. your .02 worth please.

I build parade wagons as a hobby and I have found many businesses that sell everything from wagons, carriages, and all the parts by going to Google and typing in "horse drawn wagons" and "horse drawn carriages". You'll even find companies that will sell you horses and mules and all the tack for pulling wagons and carriages. It's rare to find anything along this line worth looking at on craigslist and I've not found anything at local auctions except the specialty auction every couple of years or so where someone liquidates their horse-drawn accumulation. That's a very rare find.

You can also try a couple of magazines, one is Mules and More, the other is Western Mule Mag. Both have all kinds of info for saddle and harness mules.

On the insurance side of the question here in Mo we have the Mo. draft horse assocation that covers the horse related events like horse farming days. You might look for something like that that will cover you in your state. In columbia Mo twice a year there is a sale at the fair grounds ( about the middle of feb. and the middle of september). Look up Columbia Mo. draft horse sale for curent listing. This is a four day sale.Wagons and such are sold on Wensday or thursdays if my memory is corect.

RFD-TV has several shows dealing with draft horses and mules. They are interesting and usually have contact information at the end of the show for hobby groups. You can probably find them listed on the RFD-TV website.
