Driving from Manchester NH to Burlington VT tomorrow and spending weekend in Burlington VT. Does anyone know of any good flea markets, general stores, tractor shows, equipment grave yards, farm equipment / snow plow museums along the way? Sever got around to ordering my Farm Collector Show Directory this year.

Appreciate your feed back.

There is a top notch museum, The Shelburne Museum in Shelburne VT just south of Burlington. Not much for old tractors or trucks but lots of nice old country and maritime stuff. It takes a whole day to see it. You should stop and see the floating bridge in Brookfield, and it's only about three miles from the highway down to Randolph center, and then a half mile up 12A on the right to where a guy has a lot of old tractors around his shop.

A snow plow museum??? What a depressing thought...
Yeah Shelburne is the tops, Are you shopping or just killing time? Drive up the islands, walk on the ferry across the lake, Morgan Horse Farm at UVM isn't far. If you are looking for parts, external_links on the MF page is a bit north? I don't know what else. The whole place has changed since the Ben and Jerry crowd took over...

Vermont isn't what it used to be. 20 years ago you could go there and find all those flea markets and stuff. Now it's all high dollar tourist traps. Shelburne Museum is great. Other than that it's a crap shoot.

It wasn't just Ben and Jerry that turned Vermont around!

Ain't that the truth. I grew up just a little ways from the Vt border and we got all our news from good old WCAX TV out of Burlington. Used to be Vt was all about farming. In the 80's it really took a turn and never came back. What changed it from what I've seen and what ex Vermonters living near me now say was the huge influx of people from NYC, Mass, Ct, Jersey, etc.

Don't forget ex-Gov Howard Dean, the face of Vt for many years now, is a Long Island boy, The Hamptons of course, whose daddy was a big wig at Dean Witter, the Wall St guys.

Ben and Jerry are both from NYC/Long Island too.

Yes,the libs. moved in with IBM and a few other
big companys.Howard Scream was elected govenor for 3 or 4 terms and that was the end of the Vermont we in the north east knew.At least two smart farmers that I know left Vermont and came to the Malone area to farm and both are doing well.Scares the daylights out of me when someone leaves any state and comes to N.Y!From the frying pan to the fire.

Har! Yeah, kinda says something about Vt, eh? In my area I have ex-Vermonters, ex-Ct, ex-NH, all farmers. They tend to be be really gun shy when some carpetbagger from NYC moves in.

Can't really blame them for being a little gun shy.How are they doing farm wise? The one former Vt'r. over in N.Burke is as close to being self sufficient as he can get.Only things he buys are petro.products and parts to keep everything up and running.Oh and more land!
