OT: How not to load a truck.

Not my video, not my truck, not my trailer. There is some foul language in this video, so make sure the ladies and young children are not in earshot when you open the link.

That smarts! My ramps did that one too many times when I was unloading the 1020 Deere loader tractor. I generally always raise the 3 point when I back it off and aim the drawbar for the gap between the ramps "just in case".
I don't know where my head was that day,but one of the 3 point arms went right through a ramp, the tractor swung sideways and one front tire went off the side. It sat there rocking on one front tire and one back one. I tore the ramps right loose from the back of the trailer before I got it off of there.

That's why I keep pair of heavy jack stands in the tool box.Was taught that at a young age.You always have the idiot with those famous last words,JUST STAND BACK I KNOW WHAT I'M DOIN.

I always have someone in the cab put the brakes on when I am loading or unloading something heavy. That way the truck and trailer will hold.

Can't for the life of me figure why he had to get that much of a run to get the truck up on the deck. The guy with the camera should have been guiding him up rather than taking videos. Not sure if the truck was 4wd, but would have been a good time to use it...

That HAD to have caused some trouble underneath. I'm guessing there's a bill for a new fuel tank in there not to mention the front end. If he's lucky it missed the driveshaft and he's able to pull it away. Those are people that should not be allowed to have a pickup OR a trailer.

If something doesn't work you just go faster. Good plan.

Which is why I have these on the back of my trailer.

I take it since they said they tried a come-a-long that the truck
didn't run and they were trying to roll it down the hill onto the trailer.
Not the brightest move, but it would explain many questions.
It's sure gonna make a professional wrecker bill seem cheap!

That's what happened. The ramps had built in stops so the tail doesn't drop too far, but the trailer rolled forward which shot the ramps up in the air...

And to think, for $102 a year, they could have bought the AAA Premir and had a free 200 mile tow to anywhere. All damages on the tow company. Plus they could get all the free maps they want.

(quoted from post at 21:13:38 08/18/13) And to think, for $102 a year, they could have bought the AAA Premir and had a free 200 mile tow to anywhere. All damages on the tow company. Plus they could get all the free maps they want.
Towing is about $10/year on my insurance come to think of it!
Only covers the first 50 miles though. LOL

My friend, I agree with you completely. I think my insurence says I get towed to the nearest repair facility, then AAA gives me 200 more miles. My mom was one of 16. I have hundreds of cousins and second cousins. I am sure I have family within 200 miles of where ever I break down in the United States (except perhaps between El Paso and Fredricksburg), no one lives there. Anyway, My cousin, I will go visit them, AAA will take me there, even if me and the cousin never met. I am confident my cousin will appreciate my visit!

A couple of us watched a guy do that at Oakley yesterday with a golf cart. I can't remember everyone that was there at J. Wondergems canopy when it happened. We helped the guy lift the cart the rest of the way on, then pulled the ramps out. He then proceeded to load a JD620 on the same trailer from the rear.

That poor Dodge 1/2 ton had way too much load on it.

Yep, I saw the sequel after I'd already posted this. Hmmm.... The truck won't go on the trailer under it's own power, so we trash it by loading it like an idiot. Then we put a shiny diamond plate flatbed on a non-running truck?

My new theory is the owner wanted a flatbed, but couldn't figure out how to convince his wife that he really needed one. So he got a buddy to film him as he "accidentally" tore up the box bed.

Brother-in-law wanted me to haul his 5000 Ford tractor. He was driving it on this car trailer and it picked up the back end of the pickup. Down the drive they went. I hollored to pull forward or back up. He was so scared he froze. Now have damaged bumper on truck and damaged to trailer. The whole mess jacked knifed before stopping.

they just needed a little more speed, when Drifting that trUck onto the trailer, would have Made for a Better video

Obviously it didn't run, because they talked about not being able to winch it on.

Seems pretty obvious that they wouldn't have enough momentum to roll it on, even without the intervening disaster. They had enough elevation that they could have rigged up some planks and blocking to have a pretty straight shot on to the trailer. But that wouldn't have been nearly as exciting. Or stupid. And the resulting video would have had no chance of going viral.
