Not only would I outlaw JB Weld

I'd make you have a license or at least pass an IQ test to use Liquid Nails too.
I'm working in an expensive home in the western suburbs. Had to pull up a laminated wood floor so I could install that new interlocking rubber flooring in the weight room. By the looks of it it was some prior homowner who installed it.
I think they used about 10 gallons of Liquid Nails to glue it down. (seriously)
No reason to use liquid nails when there are better products that work better and actually come off if need be.
10' X 12" area.
Took me all of 8 hours to get it pulled up.
Had to rent an SDS chisel with a 1" bit to get the boards started.

Then use a bar and blocks to PRY it off the floor.

Now use a 4" SDS chisel to peel the remaining glue off the concrete.

Board by board, all day long.

Here's the poor sap who had to do the work.
Time and materials.
Feel sorry for my customer for the cost but So glad I didn't bid it!

True testament to how good liquid nails is, don't know when this job was done but 15 years ago putting hardwood floor over concrete with out having to use sleepers was challenging, maybe they should have put the rubber floor over this one.

And to think that there are people sitting at home all day long collecting unemployment because in some, many cases, it pays better than working. At the end of the day, they have no pride, but you, myself and an ever growing minority funding our nation...do.

Now, go take a shower, drink a beer, and smile at yourself. You, we deserve it despite what we are being told about ourselves.

Most of those inadequately neuron equipped idiots are tiny bits of bone putting calcium back in the ground, or smart enough to use it. Jim

Donno, JBweld has saved a couple projects that would have cost me a bunch in time and money to do another repair.

Never used liquid nails, but have used JB weld. It does have it's place in making rapairs. I believe the problem with jB weld is people try to use on not properley cleande surfaces. Stan

Hey it worked great for the fellow that put the floor down and he didn't want someone coming along and messing it up(LOL)Fixed many things with JB Weld and like the looks of that Liquid Nail stuff

I thought laminate floors are only supposed to be glued together at the tongue and groove and expand and contract as a whole? Thats what my Pergo instructions said to do on installation.

The crown moulding in my living room was put up with liquid nails. That's the only reason it is still there - I'm not interested in drywall work right now.

Glued down? Laminate "floating" floor? That would be a bear!
I put a few in that were bears too, but I did it to myself. LOL
Here's one of them. Be sure to post pictures when you're done,
I loved that stone bathroom you did!

Maybe that's why there were fewer idiots in the old days,,,,,,,,,,,,,Do you think this modern day crop would self eradicate if given access to dynamite?

Looks like it did just what the previous installer wanted it to do, stick the flooring to the concrete. I don't think thats a bad thing. JB Weld, I'v had good and bad experiences with it. Good luck with your project. gobble

I think he is talking about a solid wood laminate flooring not high pressure laminate like Pergo and such. The wood laminate is constructions plywood with one layers grain 90 degrees to each other with a hardwood top layer

To further explain real wood laminates some are made to glue down some float and some can be nailed down. On concrete is glue or float they all depend on the manufacturers spec

Thanks for all the comments.
I think what many people fail to understand is remodeling projects are not permanent. Homes get remodeled over and over. So if you are a do it yourselfer consider the fellow who is going to do the job again someday. At least remember that it has to be torn out somehow and some fellow is going to see what a lout you were for doing it that way.
Sure, sure, you may be gone by then. But would you want your son or grandson to see it?
I say do it right or hire it done right.
That"s all.
