Never go to a tractor show on the last day .

Portland indiana ... I was working and we couldn't make it there saturday. We get there bright and early before the church service started. Got in free, nobody around to take money. There was lots of trailers ! Loading up tractors. The sad part is you just dont know how big the show really was . I snapped a pics and we left. Nice grounds and from the mashed grass looks like there were many pieces. I'll post pics soon . Are these original front tires ?

Those old combines were built like a tank. They used heavier gauge metal than the Massey's of that era. We had 2 older model SP112's; they were just plain rugged machines. Dirty to operate, but rugged.

We got there about 9:00 am fri. , left about 5:00 pm and saw about half of it . Could not walk any more and tired of dodging golf carts anyway !

Did that on my first trip to the Portland Show.
I started to see the caravan of loaded machinery when I started south out of Fort Wayne. Not much on the grounds when I arrived. The next year I went on Saturday and some were already loading out.

Yes, I think those tires are orignall. I have tires yet that are 15 years older than those. And it was a good show but not quite as many featuer tractors as sometimes. Was there friday and did not see near all of it but could not walk anymore.

Same thing happens at gun shows and farmers markets.I was at a gun show where the dealers were leaving at 1pm, show was supposed to go till 3 pm.A dealer who stayed till 3 had buyers lined up buying guns. When I had money to buy guns I always got a better deal right after noon.A city farmers market is listed to be open wed thru sat.We stopped on wed and found just one seller.Went by a large farmers market on sat morning planned to stop on the way back.Everything was gone at 2 pm.You cant sell from an empty wagon of quit early.

Friday and Saturday are always the big days at almost all shows.....I as an exhibitor always load and go home on Saturday evening as I have church on Sunday..

I have a twin to the Cockshutt combine and yes those are the original drive tires..

Buddy wanted to go to the Gravely Collectors tent, so we went early on Saturday. I usually go Friday, but Saturday was fine. By 1:00 we were both walked out and headed home and as usual saw about half the show.
