What IS That?

Hey guys, I was just going through the local CL and saw this tractor for sale. Looks like a normal 8N, but what is the deal with the blue squeeze lever on the right side of the tractor right by the dash. Looks like it is actually inside the transmission? Bryce

The tractor is actually a 9N or 2N, not an 8N. 9N would be my guess.
While there were some auxillary transmissions that had handles
on the right side, I haven't seen any that look like that one.
That looks to be cobbled into the steering to replace broken linkage.
Hard to tell exactly from the picture. Wish it was a close up.

That looks like one of the control levers for a Ferguson EO-21 side mount mower. I think that one is the smaller one for raising and lowering the bar. Somebody forgot to remove it with the rest of the mower.

Hand brake? Maybe the trigger releases the brake after it has been set while operator leaves the seat.

The tractor is not an 8N. It is a 2N.

The rear wheel hubs make it either a 9N or 2N. The spring loaded generator belt tightener makes it a 2N, 1945 or newer.

As for the lever. I have no clue. It appears that the whole tractor had been rigged on.

It sure is not worth any $2800.

Tim NJ is right. That was part of a belly mount mower. While the tractor hydraulics raised the mower during use, this lever raised it to where it locked in to transport position.

J D Seller, that is the same spring loaded generator that is on my 1944 Model 2N that Dad bought new in May of 44 and that is what it came with and it is also what is on my 1941 9N. Only the first year 9N that had the small generator did not have that. And most of those have been replaced so that does not tell a year.
