photos-new barn update

It has been over a month since I last posted pics of the new barn my brother is having built. Today the weather here in western PA was rain and upper 50's and melted all the snow, was mild enough to let the kids go down and run off their energy as I took a look at the progress.

There will be no side walls on the free stall and holding area, just curtains on the weather sides. Also there is no concrete in the free stalls, it will be a sand pack, and rubber matts where the cows stand to eat. The parlor is shaping up, I can now visualize how it will work.

I don't think he is going to attain the goal of moving in by Christmas.....

Looks beautiful!! What part of Western Pa. are you in? I'm from Westmoreland County around New Stanton area. Not far from Exit 75 on the Pa. Turn Pike

Looks similar to what we use, but we like the rubber chip packed box mattresses for the cows. Tried sand but it aggravated their teats. Will he be using an automatic scraper system or just sacravice an old tractor?

Looks great, was wondering how it was coming along? Lots of work putting it together. Thanks for the update.
Merry Christmas.

The only way I would ever milk is like a freind's setup at Tremont, IL. Two robots and no hands on. The ear tag is read and everything is done from that through the computer. That was the worst job I was ever in on.

But he sold his other business to Monsatan for $240 mil. I told him, he should have doubled the price as that is the way they treat us on seed.
