Maybe someone can tell the name of this steam- powered tractor---I can't. But the operator is my FIL. Picture taken in 1912. This is before he was married. He married at about age 34, had 7 girls, of which my wife is the youngest. She was born when he was 52 yrs old. My wife is now 83 yrs and is the only sibling left. Photo was processed somewhere in Fergus Falls, MN. Maybe someone living in that area can relate to that photo shop. We live in eastern NE.

We live about 25 miles from Fergus. My wife knows the guy who runs the Fergus museum. If you would provide your FIL's name we can print the picture out and provide him with that plus whatever other info you want to share and we can see what we can come up with.

You can email me at rlkfam on yahoo mail.

Great photo!

I cannot identify the engine but it is interesting, not only because of the folks pictured, but also due to the design of the traction engine, which has the engine and boiler reversed from the more common practice.

One wonders if there is a cable drum behind the women beneath the boiler.

It would be great to see a photo showing the tender in more detail.

I was noting the optional lighting package....I have not seen a lot of those on steam engines.

Thanks for the responses---It's good to see that there are folks that do appreciate this stuff!!
Couple answers---FIL's name::Henry William Hinze.
Some time later he lived at Doran, MN, where my wife was born. Don't know if FIL owned the traction engine, but doubt it. There was a name on the back of the orig. pic that said "the Boss", and that name was E.M.Parker. I'm sending a pic that includes more of the tender, as someone had requested. Merry Chistmas to all!!!
