Good start on an engine stand

Decided to build an engine stand using a final drive from a JD 6600 combine. Have a rim from an 8820 that was run loose so will cut the rim off and use the flat center as the engine mounting plate. I have a worm gear box from a rusted out cement mixer and will use that to turn the final to rotate the block.

One thing I see is that you better have a big cherry picker or an overhead hoist, since most cherry pickers won't get the engine close enough with the legs out that far. chris

Very nice. My problem with building nice things like that is, where to put it when not in use. But my shop is only 22x34 with an unheated 16x30 addition.

That is a nice JD B in the background. Dad had a similar one (1947) with the same Firestone tires, are they original?

Don't know about the tires....it is a '47. Hood hasn't been cut for the muffler. I am the ??? owner and sometime before me, the flywheel was run loose. Have a donor tractor but haven't started this one yet. This one is non roll-o-matic.
