Versatile 876 Powershift??

Guys!

Thanks for your help. What is the reputation of the power-shift tranny used on the Versatile 876? Am I better off to stay manual?

I don't think they were a BAD transmission, but they are getting older and parts MAY be a problem.

Several years ago, when my son worked at a dealership some of the electronic shift stuff was already obsolete and they had to send the parts out for repair to an outside source, while the machine remained "down".

Also, wiring harnesses have NOT been one of Versatile's strong points and electrical glitches may cause more shift problems than the actual transmission.

My farm is only about 125 miles SW of the factory and they have been a popular tractor around here since the late 70's. I still have a 1968 D-145 that was bought new locally.

876 has Cummuins L-10. Which is like 610 cubic inch. Drove one a couple times, don't know much about em. I didn't think it pulled like my 855 in my 875.
I never knew anyone that had a power shift.
For the record, owned a 555 from new to 3700 hours.
Never had a bit of trouble with it. Neighbor had a 555 he bought used.I Got to looking at it. Turns out his was consecutive serial number to ours. His motor blew up (was worked real hard by first owner) made us nervous, sold the 555 an bought the 875.
