Found this old pickup and couldn't pass it up.
Few dents, but no holes and mostly wind blown paint.
Make a good trailer hauler here in Pa.

dej(jed),

What a great find! I grew up in the 1950 - 1960 timeframe and remember the full Studebaker product line very well. I always loved the styling of the pickups.

It's going to take a fair bit of time and money to get the old girl functional, but I hope that you have great success doing so.

All I can remember about those old Stidebaker trucks is that most only ran on warm dry days and fell apart in a few years. Maybe that's why there are so few of them now.

Looks like there are a lot of "treasures" lerking in the trees around the Stud. Noticed a Ford Jubilee LP, posibly an IH560LP, an old bulldozer, and more.

Neighbor bought a new Studebaker 1-ton pickup in 1950 when I was in high school. Years later my son bought it at his estate auction. He didn't do anything with it; it's still sitting out on my brother's farm in ND - and son now lives in Australia, so he will never be able to restore it. His is in a little better condition than the one that you have.

That just reminded me. When you saw a Studebaker coming down the road, there was usually a cloud of blue smoke following it. There fore STP was invented.

J,

As a kid, I made the same observation; it just
seemed that Studebakers (car or truck) smoked more
than the rest.
My Dad had a 3/4 ton Studebaker which he turned
into a flatbed for hauling hay. Ran really good
and I think it had the "hill hold" feature.
The only thing I have left is the rearend which he
narrowed to 48" to use in building a small
tractor.
He never got a round tuit and neither have I.

Studebaker made the "WEASEL" vehicles for the
Military. I've seen New Old Stock, surplus, parts for the Weasel flat head 6 cylinder Studebaker engines in "Military Vehicles" magazine. They
may be the same as that truck engine.

A guy in school would drive his Gandfathers to school once in a while. Musta parked truck down wind too many time as it was same blue that came outa tailpipe everytime he started it.

What years were Studebakers made? never seen many around here ( N Illinois ). There were a couple of the cars that looked like a 2 row corn picker around town in probably about 1960.

i drove a 49 car when i first turned 16, go to
service station and put in bulk oil out of the
glass bottles truly proving the statement "fill the
oil, check the gas".
