Electric fuel shutoff

I got tired of smelling gas about every other time I walked in to the toolshed. The darned float would stick on the Oliver 77 about half the time. Not enough to loose a lot,but enough that it would run rough and flooded for the first few seconds, sometimes there'd be a little spot on the floor.
This switch was in a box of the sons junk out in the shop. Came off of a nitrous oxide kit. I grounded it to a starter bolt and hooked the hot wire to the ignition wire on the coil so it turns the gas on when I turn the ignition switch on. I can't turn the gas off manually on it because the side curtains are in the way.
I've had one on my 1600 for 13 years now. That one came off of an old New Idea UniHarvester that I parted out. Been working flawlessly all that time.

I had a 60 that had that on it. The darned carb leaked though, and after it sat overnight it wouldn't have any gas in it to start it. I'd have to push the valve down by hand to let gas in.

My 77 has full curtains on it and I still shut it off when I par it. I just have the left side curtain on the back so it opens with a turn of the 2 catches so easy to do and takes maybe a minute to do it

my 2004 T5C came with a electric fuel solenoid. You can buy them on ebay for little to nothing, $15. I put them on a briggs engine that has carb issues that I can't fix.

Go to town and ask the boys behind any auto parts counter for an electric fuel solenoid. Bet they look at you sideways and say, WHAT?

The guys knew what this one was when I took it in to get the fittings to fit that fuel line. It says NOS Fuel Cheater on it. They were all smiles and kinda holding their distance from me asking me what the heck I was putting nitrous on?!

Old, how did you rig that up? Every Oliver77 I've ever seen, the back curtain is held on securely by 2 screws in the rear of the panel and two on the bottom, and the back panel is under the front panel. Just wondering.
I always turn mine off at the filter bowl...no belt pully so I can reach thru the belt pully hole.

Simple I just do not lock it down LOL. I can also reach in where the belt pulley set up is and turn it off with out opening things up. I just use the front curtain to hold the back tight so yep simple 2 half turns and both curtain can be opened up. Took me years to find a set of full curtain for this 77 I have

I was at the bone yard one time and there was a 77 sitting there with the rear curtains on it yet. Somebody had gone to a lot of trouble cutting a square hole in one and putting a hinged door on it with latches and all. Pretty custom looking outfit, was framed up and everything. Seems like it would have been a whole bunch easier to put a carb kit in that one. Wrecked a good curtain in the process.
