I know its not good to list e mail adresses out in the open,but can a person cause themselves trouble if they give out their cell phone number on the site,there is someone I want to contact

Make a post to the person you want to contact.

Ask them to reply to you via YT and leave your email open in the post.

That is the method I use to contact folks by phone.

Larry,

Either open your email.. or ask them to open their email --- then email your phone number to them.

If you put it here... you are literally giving it to the entire world.

At a mimimum.... if you do list it here - then list it like this:

I personally don't see a real problem with it. If someone wants to hunt a person down I think they can. Most basic info is available on google etc. anyways. And on this site your number is attached to your "handle" not your full name.

Actually, you only have to encode one digit to keep the trollers from picking up your number. Easiest way is to make a 1 into an l, or a 0 into an O.

to leave email open, when making a post, under your username where is says E-Mail, type your email address in. Your email is then open.

If you're using modern view leaving it open is a setting in your profile.

Type your email address in the box where I show it typed in red letters in the pic...

You will see it when you type it - but your email address will not show up in your post - it will just leave your email button open in Classic View. Then someone can email you through the YT site. And then you can reply back from your regular email.

I've put mine on here before. This is so much safer than Facebook since we all don't know each others' real name...LOL

If they do call and ask for you by your YT handle you immediately know how they got your number.

Phone numbers have been in the phone book for lot's of years...I have put my cell phone on here a number of times with absolutely no problems.

Get a throwaway email address (Hotmail, or Gmail), for example, and put that out in the open to make contact/exchange phone info. If the scammers/spammers take it over, abandon it and move on.

Another thing you can do is post your number then after the person contacts you go back to your post (in Modern View) and edit it to remove your number. I've done that a few times with no ill effects.
At least your number isn't out there forever that way.

Both the email and house land line phone numbers I have put on here along with my exact street address with no problems. And there are people on here that know my full name.
