Simonsen Simo 44 Sickle Service Tool

Bought one of these, similar to a Johnson Sickle Servicer, along with a bunch of new knives and rivets at auction last week.
I must be the last man on earth running riveted sickle sections on my old 1090 Heston swather.
Going to treat it to new knives this spring, and thought it would come in handy.
Had a Johnson back when we farmed, but never seen a Simo before. Anyone else have one?

I have one, but I live ten miles from where they were made. Haven't used it for many years. If I remember right it had to be adjusted up pretty tight for it to work right. Jim

I have not seen a Simo tool. I do have a Johnson one. I still think a riveted sickle will cut through fine grass better than the bolted on one. The taller hold downs will drag more stuff than the older short ones.

This thing looks and works like a Johnson, just made up of weldments rather than castings. Probably just enough different to get around patents, would be my guess.
Have to wait for spring to try it out.

Well, I got around to using it tonight. Made replacing all the knives a breeze......well, maybe not that easy, but better than any other alternatives I currently have!
Forgot about that satisfying feeling, when you shear off the old knives, that was worth the price alone!
