I crossed the border into the Irish Republic yesterday to visit this model tractor show. Of course my camera batteries died as soon as I went to take my first photo, but a friend emailed me these last night....Hope you get some idea of what we do over here!

OH TOO COOL! I have always wanted to do something like that. I have a good assortment of 1/16 tractors, but they are all kind of odd balls out, and I don't have any equipment for them. Is that modeled after what your farm looks like, or just your imagination! Bryce

Bryce, the pics do not do this show justice. My friends camera is
more for zooming in on things rather than taking a general pic!
The whole thing over here now is custom made implements to
match real implements and the collectors create diaramas, loosely
based on how our farms look....but with a bit of imagination. Some
of the tables were just too crowded to depict a real farm, but the
models did look better pretending to be working as opposed to
sitting in a stright line!!! Most collectors use 1/32 scale for these
diaramas.

The barn roof in that 3rd picture looks like it has had our snow on it this year!
The willow harvesting sure looks like a good way to lose some tires.
How do you then clear that land for re-use? Or will it regrow?

Royse, the willow is grown as a continuous crop. Around us, in the English Midlands, there are many fields of willow, as we are surrounded by power stations which burn the willow, mixed with coal. One of the more stupid ideas of the enviromentalists. One power station is alleged to be importing wood chips from Louisiana. How green is that?

Yes, harvesting willow can be hard on tyres, the short, sharp stems left after cutting go through tyre side walls. Phil

Can't remember the brand names but I got some of that stuff for my boys while stationed in Germany.

Rick

Thanks Phil. It is always interesting to see and learn about the
differences in crops/planting/harvesting from around the world.
