Spent the afternoon with my friend Loren today getting a tour of their maple syrup making facility. Was a good afternoon, even carried a couple buckets. Didn't get any pics from the woods, but got lots from the cook shack.

ditto jon, visited last summer got to see the sugar shack and woods. He didn't put me to work. Ha Ha. just kidding.
 
Good deal--stop by here and we'll put the head back on my JD D. The Rotary Club in Union City, MI makes maple syrup every year. This year they got a reverse osmosis set-up that removes about 1/2 the water from the sap so it doesn't have to boil as long. Never heard of that before. Keep on, love to hear about your travels.
 
Something to appreciate, great you guys got to visit and you got to see that great longstanding tradition going on there, thanks for posting those photos !
 
We have a place close by at McLean, IL just north off of I55. Funks Grove has been in the Funk family for years and owned 22 WHOLE sections of land at one time. They moved the McLean county line south 2 miles into Dewitt county to get all of their land into 1 county.

The Funk person that makes syrup uses a thermostatic gas fired controler to keeep the tempature perfect. I am working on a gallon right now when my BS gets low.
