New Allis Chalmers?

I saw something today and I'm still not sure I saw what I think I saw.
I had to go to the second choice Agco dealer, the one that used to be Allis Chalmers instead of the old Oliver dealer that I usually go to. They sell Simplicity lawn tractors too. There were a bunch of them sitting on the showroom floor and down on the end sat two that looked like brand new,had the same styling as the rest, but the hoods were cream colored and they had orange Allis Chalmers decals on them.
Is there some Simplicity Heritage line or something out now days?

Back in the 60's, Simplicity made the L&G equipment for AC. Then AC bought Simplicity in the late 60's, but I don't know what happened after AC went under as I'd left the company just before the fall.

Ya,I know the ACs were Simplicity. That's why I wondered if there was a heritage line that they were offering or something. Didn't look like something they had done themselves out in the shop.
I didn't see anything about it on the Simplicity website.

Now since you were there why didn't you ask the dealer ??????????

Afraid they would talk you out of that Oliver and trade it on an AC ! LOL.

Card Brothers in Chesaning Michigan. Now that I know what it is,I might have to go back and talk to them about one.

They had a lot of new Oliver T shirts hanging behind the counter for sale,so they can't be all that bad. lol
That's where I got my 2-135 White

Interesting... I just don"t understand what happened in the styling department of all the tractors these days? Everything looks like a slant eyed insect or something... Then they make it worse by adding a old name to it.. Almost an insault to the tractors of yesterday.. I"m sorry but the tractors of the 40"s and 50"s have great style. Same with the cars!!!

They do still make a allis chalmers lawn mower or did as of a year or so ago, there just a 42" deck and wanna say 16hp Briggs motor. They only make them in one size.

Two sizes now according to smalltowner's link. A 23 horse 42 inch and 24 horse 46 inch. Price doesn't look bad at all for that kind of horsepower.

Its just the typical junk mower being pedaled these days with an old quality name on it to maybe give it some sale value they're doing the same thing with Bolens.Allis Chalmers is still in business BTW its an energy company I think its in Texas

That's all a stunt by Briggs & Stratton. Hasn't gone over very well. Just hoping they don't screw up the Simplicity line.

They are really missing a bet here. Paint it all orange and style it to look like a D-21 and even an "I bleed-IH red" man like me might buy one !

These "new" mowers over 20 horsepower? I mowed many an acre with a 10 horse Cub Cadet and it did a good job. Why do they need such a large HP engine? I am getting an idler pulley for my Cub Cadet model 73 ( 7 HP Kohler) with a 42 inch mower deck to use for a back up. It mowes just fine.

"the new tractors harken back to the glory days of the Allis-Chalmers farm tractor"
I guess they forgot about the super-fast first gear, super-slow high gear, and selling new tractors with 25 year old technology.
My first problem with them- about tied with the cosmetics- is the Briggs and Scrapiron part.

After I read that article I guess they did offer a 46" deck I didn't know that, all ones I've seen on Internet and in person are 42". But I will also say I don't think you'd be impressed with one, they kinda look to be like a new cub cadet, and not built very good. And it's a 23hp vertical shaft not horizontal, I've always been told the horizontal shafts of equal power to verticals the horizontal has more power, whether there's any truth to that I don't know.

I saw them last year at my Simplicity dealer in Gregory, Gordies, and Gordie said they are a cheapened up Simplicity but I see Cards have Dolmar chainsaws, and I sure like my new Dolmar!

What's wrong with a B & S? I've used them for years with no complaints.

With a Honda you turn the switch on, gas on, and choke it, pull the rope, and it's running. Change the oil once a year, and you might need a spark plug by the time the pump it's hooked to wears out. Good luck with a briggs and scrapiron. Every time the co-op brings one on the place they have to come replace it.

Pretty much the same experience as I've had with B&S, never had any trouble. Tecumseh, now that's another story.

I've got a Simplicity zero turn that I bought in 2008 that has a 20 hp Briggs engine. I've had good luck with it. I wouldn't be afraid of another Briggs.

Have good experience with B&S engines. The one on my Huskee lawn mower had a couple of issues years ago but once fixed, no problems since. In fact fired it up this spring to do the first mowing and it was running strong (12 yrs. old, run about 3 hrs. a week in season).
