Hi guys , I bucked some oak blocks and put them beside my 1948 KB5 yesterday . you can still see how much snow is at the farm. I'll split the blocks later since oak splits very easy with an axe .It's a shame to use that oak for firewood but my chum whom logged it, says it pays better firewood than logs.

I too am in Northern Ontario, but maybe not as far
north as my JD 420 just dragged bottom getting to
my pile of maple that I cut and skidded in Dec,
still snow on the pile but recent rains have made
it accessible, nice truck

Ya , we have a short growing season. I plant any in ground veg. mid May and above ground after the frost in June . The frost starts in Sept. and we never get 2 crops of hay , many have tried but the second crop never makes it.

(quoted from post at 23:19:17 05/01/14) You 'far north' guys ever get summer? What crops do
you grow? Steve

I've seen mixed grains in during the first week of April. Corn and beans have to wait for the inevenitable May 24 weekend frost .
A bit of spring ploughing but there were still snow drifts along the edges of some fields and in low shaded spots earlier this week.
East cost of Lake Huron . Several hundred heat units different from Tobbermory to Port Huron/Sarnia. Within a mile of two of the lake is warmer too.
Well usually, the Ferry could not leave Owen Sound this morning due to the wind blowing the last reminants of ice in to close the harbour.
