Too big to till the garden

We went out to dinner last night at a local resturaunt. Had to go up the block to get turned around for a parking spot and saw this old girl peeking out from the alley.
Stopped to snap a photo and talked to the neighbor who said the owner just bought it and is going to haul it up to his land in a couple of days.
Pretty decent looking old Oliver. It was a gasser though so I'd hate to be the one who buys the fuel.
Not every day you see tractors in the city.
About what year would this be?

That was a big tractor in its day, UD. Being a gaser, it likely did not see 30 years of heavy tillage work and is probably in decent mechanical shape.

I have long been fond of the big mid-60s Olivers, especially the 453 Detroits. Unlike many, I like the howl of the 2 stroke Detroits under load.

when I was a teenager I worked for a neighbor who had a 1800 gas -- we put duals on the front and back -- looked a little corny in its day with those fronts -- anyway that thing couldnt make it past 11 AM and it would be back to the gas barrel --that tractor would put down 8 gallons an in 60 minutes -- 19 cents a gallon for farm fuel -- but we got our moneys worth -- we drug a 18 foot tandem disc on a half section -- big tractor in its day - what memories -- Roy from northwest iowa
