I kind of accidentally participated in something like that...the company I work for has a "Community Service" day once a year. Last fall we helped out at one of those gardens. There were a few other people around (not from the company I work for) who were socializing while we all worked. Seems like a reasonable activity.

Sounds like an interesting way to meet people! Only one thing concerns me, it says no farming experience necessary, So how they gonna tell the weeds from the veggies? Pass out a weed identification booklet to everyone? Or did I overlook something? LOL
