side dressing corn

Has anyone here built a rig to side dress corn with urea (dry)? Just curious what you did, if you liked it, and would youbdobnot again

We did that our planter had dry fertilizer attachments, we off-set the hitch, worked great. You could really see the difference if you skipped an area

The last few years I have used a 3 point tool bar that I mounted the hoppers and openers from my planter onto. I used a single drive tire in the center to control depth, and to drive the screws(built from an old White planter). It is slow, but precise.

It is supposed to rain for the next week, and I have knee high corn right now that needs fed. Thinking about using a cone spreader.

Dad's old Oliver front mount cultivator had a side dressing attachment. The fertilizer hoppers from the front mount cultivator mounted on it. Tubes went down to a heal/funnel/cup,whatever you want to call it,on the leg next to the row.

Why don,t you just broadcast spread it before you plant and incorporate it in .
We do that in our small and odd shaped fields because we run over too much trying to apply anhydrous in those fields.

We put our second application of urea on with a fertlizer buggy. We add Agritain as a stablalizer and we then cultivate some feilds or try to pick when rain chances are good.We did most of ours last week and have not had rain yet so the corn is showing a litle stress but it looks worse than it is.I do not like to put all mine on early in the spring as in a wet year you can lose way to much.I am thinking about getting a liquid 28 applicater with discs and going that way in the future.Tom
