Anything to do around Roanoke Va?

Looks like I'll be sittin around today in Virginia and was wondering if there is anything to see or if anyone nearby wants to get coffee and tell tractor tails?
 
Go downtown to the Railroad Museum. Norfolk and Western, now Norfolk and Southern; built it's locomotives in Roanoke and fine examples of the art are at the museum.
 
Jon, I'd invite you by but it's 2 1/2 hours' drive. Afraid I never paid any attention to Roanoke, but we found nearby Botetourt County lovely. It once stretched all the way to the Mississippi River.
 
I have been through Roanoke several times, but can"t help with things to do. I don"t know if it would be of any interest to you, but VMI in just north of you with several historical sites. Like VaTom I would invite you by, but I"m 3 hours south-west of you in North Carolina........
 
Right after posting this I got a load, crappy, but a load. Going to Columbia Sc. today to pickup and then back up I-77 to I-70 and over to Columbus Oh. for delivery on Friday. So I'll have a day or more to waste along that route. I'm thinking about stopping at the Salem Nc. fair on the way, but if anyone is along that route or knows of something to do along that route I will have some time.
 
Jon, I live 35 miles from where you were on the WV Turnpike yesterday. I don't know which way you went to Roanoke from there Rt 77 and 81 or 460. But if you went down 460 you passed right by me. The VA transportation Museum is well worth the trip. Lots of things to see and do in NC too.
 
Drove right by since I took 460, and probly will again on thursday. Thinking about stopping at the Salem fair and may meet up with C.Amic tomorrow if he likes. I will be passing by on 460 again on thursday and would have some time if you would like to meet.
 
Jon, My schedule for Thursday looks pretty good so far. I am near Rt 460 between Blacksburg VA and Princeton WV. I get on 460 at Rich Creek, VA. My E-mail is open. Shoot me an E- mail when you find out what time you will be passing through the area.
 
I will send you an e-mail, but you have to open it so I can. Should be able to stop by on Thurs. morning if everything goes as planned tomorrow.
