a little moth caterpillar packs a punch

i found out the hard way about saddleback moth
caterpillars but it didn"t take long i guess to keep
it tractor related we are using a john deere 5075 to
clean the fence where i got hit here is a picture of
what to look out for

Glennster, thanks for the link. I have been fortunate in that I have never experienced the wrath of the little monsters, but I have heard about them. That is the most information I have ever read about them. As the article stated, there aren't many of them so they are not that much of a danger. As always, when working in the garden or such, caution is the key word.
 
that link fits what i encountered to a t but i took half a box of baking soda and mixed it in the tub and soaked for about thirty mins
 
Oooh, I tangled with one of those things before. Pure evil.
I've had bad bee stings that didn't hurt that bad.

I was walking thru the yard and just as I entered the treeline
I brushed by a leafy tree. Then I screamed in awful pain.
I went directly back to the house so my Mom could look at it.
My Dad knew what it was and I still hadn't seen the thing.
He told me to go back to that tree and carefully turn over
leaves with a stick, and look for a caterpillar with a saddle on its back.
That was my first (and hopefully last) brush with a packsaddle bug.
