Renting with a debit card again rant

Of all the danged fool things! I went to Enterprise this morning while we were out running around. Wanted a nice newer pickup to drive on the 127 Yard Sale in two weeks.
They said I'd need a credit card for a pickup or full sized van. No problem using the debit that we always use with them for a minivan or SUV,but not a full sized van or pickup. I asked them why. They said "More money". Woopty do,the pickup is $50 a week more than a minivan or SUV. Like that's a big difference. When I rented a car in March for the wife to drive to Virginia, she had it for two weeks and it came to more than the pickup is for one week. What a pain. Looks like I'll be taking an SUV.

That's the trouble. Seems like the smaller vehicle I take, the more big stuff I buy. We took a Hyundai Sante Fe 4 years ago and I came home with two horse drawn plows in the back of it. Last year we had a minivan with lots of room and I could have hauled what I bought in the back seat of a compact car.

Shoot, I would of rented you this one without a Debit Card.

What was I thinking? Shoot,I could even get you to drive!
I just don't know if I can grow much of a beard in the next two weeks. LOL

Find out if you are a member of any association or organization that has a deal with any rental car companies. Last year I had to drive from North Central Iowa to Kalamazoo Michigan for my Daughter's College graduation. I had three choices 1- spend $ to fix the A/c in the Pick-up and spend more $ for gas for the trip, 2- take the truck without A/C (it was June) or 3- rent a car. I choose #3 and used Enterprise Rent-A -Car. As a former Military member I have my car insurance through USAA. USAA has a deal with Enterprise The rental and the gas for the rental was about the same as truck gas, okay I was about $20 dollars over budget because they gave me a Chrysler 200 instead of the little cra9 box I asked for. Anyway because of my USAA membership there was a lot of stuff waived as far as fees and rules, IIRC I could of left a cash instead of a credit/debt card deposit in the amount of my insurance deductible + $100 or something like that. Something to do about Enterprise knowing what my car insurance will cover so all they needed covered was my deductible and a tank of gas.

I'm surprised it is even possible to rent a car with a debit card. Maybe you should think about getting a credit card just for this reason.
