Some haying pics

Here are some pictures I took. The cutting pictures are 2nd cutting. The baling pics are 1st cutting.

It is raining in the last picture, I had about 100ft of windrow left and it started raining pretty hard. BW

No, it was repainted at 9000hrs right before I bought it. It has alittle over 9400hrs on it now. For some reason the dealer I bought it from didn"t paint the rims. Its been on my list of offseason things to do. Plus it just started raining in that picture. BW

That field was planted last year and seeded with oats. Because last august was so dry, we didn't get a cutting of alfalfa off it til this year. That field is really light soil. 1st cutting was about 1 ton/acre. 2nd cutting a little less. If we don't get a good shot of rain soon aint gonna be much of a third cutting. BW

Get a soil sample now after this last cutting. Probably need to dump a tad of N and good bunch of P and K on it.

I did after first cutting. It helped thicken it up. This field is high sandy ground. I cut 2nd cutting a little sooner than I would have liked, but as dry as it has gotten, I was afraid of it going backwards on me.

It seems to be the trend here. We get above average rain in the spring and fall, but cant buy a drop from late June til mid September. By then it greens up the field for fall, but there is nothing there to cut. It makes it tough to fertilize this time of year. BW
