OT replacing rubber treads on footpegs

I'm replacing rubber foot peg rubbers on my motorcycle after having it painted. Whats the best way to get them on. They are tight. Warm them, soap them? Thanks in advance. Earl

Silicone dielectric compound (Tune up grease)

Cheap hairspray. It will lube them for sliding on, then become stuck when it dries.
