This is what happens when I used a lawn mower fur a stump grinder.
The sun flowers came up volunteer, its been an unusual growing season here. Some of the flowers I planted didn't come up and some of the perennials took all summer to come back.
I have a tall plant that I can't indemnifie, its the one with the sun flowers by the windmill..

They were grown as a crop around here and they show up sometimes. i wonder could this be from bird seed ? You wonder when you see a sack of bird feed with thistle seed in it

Harvey, that looks like a Sears Custom. Does it have the cast aluminum mowing deck? If so, you are lucky you didn't break it! Bumper crop of sunflowers there.

The flowers in your windmill picture look like the Sunflower as well as Sunchoke. The sunchoke has a small sunflower-like flower but it is related to the artichokes. I planted FEW sunchokes about 6 years ago and now I have a patch about 12 feet by 150 feet and they now need thinning out. Their root is much like an artichoke and is quite nice to eat.

By the way, what do you call that type of green-roofed-and-side building in the background of the first picture. Is it a carport or something like it?

Around here sunflowers,(the wild variety)was the biggest and most expensive weed in the soybeans. Walk the fields, then years later, ride several kids on a bar with seats and a sprayer wand with roundup. Then, roundup beans, problem solved, until now the weeds are becoming resistant to roundup.

Da pitchers were taken on my Empire, in southern Indiana.
My vast expanse of realestate takes me all day to go from one end of it to the udder.

I know Harv asks similar questions when anybody else posts such pictures without telling where they were taken.

sumac growing out of the back?

I had one of those trees get 18 inches in diameter. I could have cut it down with a butter knife. Chainsaw engine didn't even get warm...

I take it this is also you in this picture?
