A year or two ago there was a mention of an organization that assists disabled farmers in modifying equipment for getting into it and operating it. does anyone remember the organizations name? We had a local logger who was recently paralyzed in a logging accident, but he is his families only support, and is hoping to at least recover the use of his arms that could benefit from the organization's knowledge.

Agribility, is one that tried to help my Dad. That
was back in 94 or so. I think they are still going.

You did not say what state your from. Some states have programs that help directly. I know IL does. It is usually making the equipment handicap friendly.

google AgrAbility. It"s a consortium that serves 24 states through the Land Grant colleges. My hand clutch for new generation JD tractors is in its archives, along with many other ideas.

I believe that Purdue's Ag School is involved in Indiana. You should check with the land grant school in Missouri, they probably have all the pertinent information.

Thanks to everyone for the help. I do not know the gentleman personally, but was talking to his sister at a Labor day tractor show and she told me about him wanting to get back to work and asked if I knew where he could get help with modifying his log skidder for access and operability (new word?). I told her about seeing a posting about similar item on here and that I was pretty sure someone would be helpful and find or remember the link. I found the link for Agribility of Mo. from the first reply and sent it to her. Right now the young man is paralyzed from the neck down, but has been getting a little feeling back in hands and fingers, so he hopes to go back to work on a limited basis someday. The fact that he is wanting to work rather than feeling sorry for himself and just sitting back expecting to be supported is encouraging a lot of people to help. There are several things going on in the county to help with his bills, a rifle being raffled off, a mud bog run, etc. all being done by volunteers, many of which have never met him.
