I thought it was interesting, the way the roof rafter beams were carved or shaped?

Larry: The carpenters in the past all had their signature style of doing certain things. Like your rafters. I bet that if you check around your area you will find other buildings with that feature.

There was a fellow that built a lot of the houses around here. He died when I was a little kid. You can still see his houses by the scroll bracing he always made under the overhangs. My Grand Father said the OLD carpenter would make them up in the winter when he was killing time.

Glad you are doing that; it looks real good. However, I don't like to paint so I try to avoid it as long as possible.

Glad you're preserving it. Looks like it is still standing straight an true, and well worth saving. Any idea how old it is?

I'll sure be glad when you get down here so we can get some of my projects done. Looks like we have got one big tree to cut down!! I'll let you do the cutting out of the high reach I'm going to be running the crane

That looks a lot like one I had to have removed about three years ago. The limb that broke off was almost two feet dia. at the trunk and about 30 feet long. It peeled a strip about 18 inches wide and 4 to 6 inches thick all the way down the trunk. Fortunately, since it left the tree top heavy on the other side, the power company took it down for me because had it fallen with the weight on that side, it would have taken down the line.
