Old two ton trucks

I have a 1971 ford f600 that has a good twin post hoist and a 14 foot metal landscapers bed. The truck does not run but the cab hoist and bed are in good condition. Is there any call for any of this or should I just send it to the scrapper as a whole unit?

I have seen some pretty nice dual wheel gooseneck or bumper hitch trailers made by removing engine, cab and front axle. Weld hitch on to truck frame and rear axle. Better than scrapping a good bed
Rig a hyd pump on tow truck with auxiliary hook up to raise and lower the bed.

Straight trucks go higher than a cat's back here. Someone will want that truck, even if you only get scrap price out of it. Around here it would still bring about $2000 if it has good tires and everything else is in decent shape.

My 74 F600 is my baby. Don't let many others drive it. Hauled a load of trash to the landfill this morning. Dumpa rear and sideways.

Back when it was in business, the local welding shop here in NC used to take old chassis like that, cut it just behind the cab, weld on the front chassis from a later model straight truck or cola/beer truck and put them back on the road.

Yes, one of my neighbors made a fire damaged truck into a trailer. Cut the frame behind the cab and welded up a hitch to make a good dump trailer to pull behind his tractor. Hook up to tractor hydraulics.
My 71 IH Loadstar still hauls all the grain from the combine. Doing it's 30th crop on this farm this year.

Got a 68 Dodge 500 here. Had a 1960 D-500 too. Sold that one to a car dealer who intended restore it and put a rollback on it. The cab is shot on the 68. Going to make a dump trailer out of it. If there is no interest in the truck as is I'm sure you could sell it to someone to make a dump trailor out of. Seems a shame to scrap it if it has a good dump box on it.

I agree some one will want it, this is my 73 C600 Dodge, she only has 41xxx miles on it I use her to haul all my grain as well, I also have the 69 C60 Chevy we bought new in fall of 68 for our CASE dealership, it has 68xxx on it, I also have a sweet little IH dump truck, she has Lots of miles but still purrs like a kitten

They aren't worth too much here. Young (and old)farmers here can't farm here unless they have at least one semi outfit. Besides these newer combines would need two 2tons to empty the hopper once. I give my 2 ton Chevy to my son to drive.

'Here' with manure regulations you can't direct spread at certain times of year and must compost on site or pay to have it hauled away. Some guys have taken the rear of a truck like that and made a manure dumper out of it to haul from the barn to the composting pile. Now if the front end isn't in too bad of shape, there just might be somebody who wants to restore it. There's a landscaper near me who buys up old IH Loadstars and restores them. Not only do they come out looking good, they get put back to work in the business.
