O/T LP Tank Question

Can a person fill a little 20 lb LP gas tanks for a BBQ Grill from your large Propane tank that's used for your house or shop or would I need a pump to pump it over?

If you'll go back to the archives from 2-4 weeks ago, you'll see the same question and a lot of good answers.

You can.

Works much easier if you have a liquid draw on your big tank. Not all do.

Some locations worry you will blow yourself up and frown on it.

I used to fill the grill tanks from my 1000 gal. tank. Now I fill a forklift tank from the big one. But, I have a liquid line because I run a grain dryer off the big tank. If I run the little tank empty, and make sure it's cool, and then do the transfer when the big tank is as warm as possible, I can get about half of a fill.

I had an LP tractor and nurse tank once that had a liquid line. Easy.

House tank at the time didn't have one. Sold the tractor and nurse and that was that.

Like others said, if you have a liquid line and a hose and adapter have at it. In case you didn't know the little valve on the side of the main valve, with a small hole in it is your full gauge. Open it when you start filling and when liquid starts squirting out the hole it's full.
