OT- US Topo Maps

Isnt there a US gov site that you can go to and see topographic maps? Looking into some woodland and would like to see a topo map of the ground.
Thanks!

Try loading 'Google Earth' and if you look at the location, you can follow the lines and if you look at the bottom of the map, it will give you the elevations. It isn't hard ti figure it out, and then, if you want to measure distances, there is a ruler icon at the top that will allow you to set a point to point distance, and it is very accurate. You can also grab the map and pull it, easily zoom it and date it. It's fun to play with, and it's free.....

What janicholson said.

I've downloaded a couple. They have different contour spreads available.

The website is a little goofy (imangine that from the Gov) and will eventually re-direct you to a "store" and then you can download the ones you need. IIRC it does that after you select the state and county. In any case just have a little patience because the info is there.
