Those Darn Deer....

Hunted Thursday and Friday but got rained out this morning. Saw a few but no decent shots. Put the cameras out not 50 yards from my ground blind and got a few pics of these two. They have us down pat... They're all nocturnal this time of year. They wise up quickly. Will give it one more try Sunday close to home. Maybe a big old plump doe will show.

Late bow season here in Missouri and I shot under 8 point buck this evening. Used the 30 yard line in the scope on my cross bow and guess I should have used the 40 yard line. Yes I am legal to use cross bow due to should and back problems

Almost all of our deer have gone nocturnal as well. I was out all
day yesterday in that rain I found a shed from last year while
walking our property and decided to sit till dark. Had a deer come
in and was going to shoot it until I saw it was a half rack spike. He
got a pass as we have a 130inch rule.... We also have a 100 acre
corn field that 1/4 mile down the road that has not been picked and
I think all the deer are held up in there.
Here is the pic of the buck ive been chasing all year. Saw him one n
october but didn't have a good shot and let him walk.

Today is the last day of dog season in my area; we go to still hunting for 2 more weeks but you can say the season is over because most put the gun away when the dogs are no longer allowed.

I have all field fence so I see plenty of deer this time of year as they jump it trying to put a fence between them and the dogs.

Yes its a toilet flange then short piece of 4 inch, a 4 inch y turned
up and has a shower drain in the bottom for water to drain out.
They work really well was like $45 a piece to make...

They don't really "go nocturnal". They keep their patterns the same year round. If they feed at 7 PM they feed at 7PM year round. This time of year it's dark at 7PM. They don't do daylight savings time either! Now during season they do know to lay low and not move as much.

I went from a majority of my pics
being from 7-12 to 12-4 this could be
in part of changing food sources as
beans have been picked however once
they feel some hunting pressure they
change routes and plans in a hurry..
Ohio is hunted hard especially around
me.. I only have 3 day time shots of
that big buck all at different spots
and tines no prefictable pattern.
