another F 12 question

I bought a new cap for the large main tank on
my F 12. I doesn't have a vent hole on the top.

Should it be vented?

Bumblebee,Yes it should be vented,especially iff it fits tight and has a gasket.You could drill a very small hole in it then put a cotter key in the hole so the tank can have some air as the gas is used.

If it is that tall cap, I wouldn't drill it as it may be vented at the bottom. Try it as is & if it keeps running under load, leave it alone.

If you got it from the Case IH dealer it is vented.
The had a safety bulletin out years ago. If you brought your old low profile gas cap in they would give you one of the taller ones free of charge. The taller ones prevent flash fires.
