Is it the same governor that is used on both the farmall H and M? If so do they share the same part number? Also do they share the same drive gear? I have an M with a speed control issue. Will not respond to adjustments furthermore someone has jury rigged the adjusting block linkage I should say replaced it with rod ends.I'm hoping I can use the governor from a parts H. Will this work? Thank u

Answer is basically yes. I believe the lower housings and the main core components of lower housings of the governors to be identical based on posting from this sites archives.

That said, I believe you will have to swap the drive gears as they are diffent size between an h and m The shaft that the gear mounts to is same size so they will swap.

Not sure if the governor spring is same or not but that is easy swap if they are different. Also there may be a length issue on the upper tube linkage housing so you may have to swap that over too - hopefully that is not the area your existing one is cobbled.

I think you may have what you need to make this work.

FWIW: A decent handheld rpm tachometer to get the low idle, high idle linkage adjustments all correct would be benficial IMOP. Even an old school handheld friction type tach can be used on the PTO shaft with creativity if you know the PTO speed of each setting (in the archives). Alternatively, a cheap modern photo eye type ($20) can be used on the engine directly and no need for the PTO math.

DSlater will hopefully be along shortly to correct anything I forgot...

I put an M governor on an H a couple years ago. You'll have to change the drive gears, plus the neck on top is longer on the M, so you'll have to change that.

All the rest is identical.
