Let's do a little landscaping

A great time of year to spiff up the old homestead place. With a little imagination just think how she can look. A little rerouting of the creek, some nice mature pines along the driveway, A nice trellis over the entranceway, little putting green in the front lawn always adds to the
ambiance, mix in a little local vegetation. Don't forget that the grand kids would love a nice pool out back. Don't forget the flowers and if they need a shady place, Royal Palms work great in providing just the right amount. Be careful when searching for a rose that you don't overlook
an orchid. I almost forgot----If there is a mountain in your way you just cut a notch in the side of it and drive around it.

You are about ten miles off on the pictures of the pine trees Mike, they are up the coast from Kaanapali at Kapalua. I have been half way around the world and it is the only place that I have ever seen pine trees of that variety. The lagoon picture was taken at Ko Olina on the southwest corner of O'ahu, a place as close to the garden of eden as one can ever imagine. One of the four Lagoons there. The mountain road picture was taken on the road past Hana on Maui that goes around the back side of the volcano and eventually connects with the road that goes to Kihei. This road is not for the faint of heart as their are many miles of one lane two track without any guard rail that drops off a thousand feet or more into the Pacific Ocean. My wife wanted me to take the pictures and I told her that I really should be watching the road. I wish the screen on the GPS would have come through on the picture as the GPS shows no road at all. It would make for a great tractor drive as it is about a five mile an hour road at it's best but hauling tractors there would be a real problem. All pictures were taken in Hawaii. Good job Mike, you really had it pinpointed. I have many pictures but I didn't want to bore people or to be so far off the topic that I get poofed.

The trees gave it away- they are one of my favorites, too, and I even asked a local about them. Of course, I can't remember the name now. We took the road to Hana (it stopped at Hana when we were there, but I guess now it goes all the way around)- fun once, but won't do it again. The lagoon pics had me fooled, though- didn't know such a thing existed on Oahu. We went to Oahu once, in about 1991, and have never been back- to much traffic and city hubbub. Kauai is our favorite.

Mike, I know what you mean about traffic in the city of Honolulu but don't let that ever discourage you from going back. My wife and I were having lunch the other day and counted twelve hammerhead construction cranes working in the city. A lot has happened in the last twenty years there. I don't think that they participated in the recession. Just stay on the H-1 West till you get to Ko Olina and you will find it to be as beautiful as any place that you have ever been. For many years we have been going to Hawaii every other year and stay about three weeks each time we go. We will alternate from staying on O'ahu and Maui one trip and the Big island and Kaua'i the next. I think that other than a few subdivision and city streets, I have driven down about every road in the state and where there are no roads I've seen the area in a sail boat or a helicopter.

Everyone should experience that road up to Hana, now that portion on around I don,t know about, that is and experience at the least..Nice photos makes me want to go back

jm.,

That road to Hanna is a piece of cake compared to the rest of the way around that end of the island. I wish I could have taken a lot more pictures but I had my hands full calming a nervous wife (an understatement) watching the road and monkey doodleing around with a camera. If anybody ever tries this I highly recommend getting a early start in the morning as it is an all day adventure and you definitely don't want to get caught in the dark on this road.
