I have purchaced a pallet of JD parts from Southern Missouri. The parts were to shipped by Fastenal(3rd party) as they were way cheaper than anyone else.I now find out that they dont ship any 3rd party west of the rocky Mountains. The lady at 'corporate' told me that they have "indefinitly" suspended all 3rd party due to insuficent space on trucks. They MAY resume if/when they get more trucks. Now what do I do?Find another shipper?Who? I've pd for em($200),but I'm considering telling the seller to return my check.Hate to,like to have the parts(electric start 'kit').I just cant afford to have a horendous shipping bill. The pallet weighs 270 lbs.Any ideas/advise? Thanks,Steve

Maybe you can get a good price on the hauling page on this site, it may take a while but if you are not in a big hurry it can work out well. I have had several items delivered by people who posted on this site and it was always cheaper by far than any commercial hauler.

I have had really good luck with Unishippers.com
I had trouble getting used to their site but after I figured it out it went easy and they are very reasonable.
You can get quotes from all the big name trucking companies.

Sounds like an excuse to come to Red Power Roundup to me :)
Or check around with other IH collectors in you area and see if anyone is going. Should be easy enough on the other end.

I guess I don't understand. Maybe the problem is that I thought you were in Louisiana which is east of the Rockies. Missouri is definitely east of the Rockies. What have I missed here?
On the other hand that far south is past the planting season so you should have some slack time and 2700 pounds isn't that heavy. Go get those parts and ask Fastenal for your money back.

Dave, enter Delta CO on your google earth. You can pick out Red's place a little east of the town center.

At 270 lbs or one pallet shipping should not be to bad. Have it shipped to a terminal near you and pick it up. (saves a lot on home delivery)

This may be of no help to you Delta. I am hauling my son and his car from Springfield MO to CO the first week of June. We will be going through Pueblo and up I think it’s 9 to Breckenridge and through Estes park. That may be too long for you to wait on your parts and we would have to figure out how we would hook up.

Last year I looked into shipping a 120lb item that would need to be on a pallet to a guy on the east coast. Seems like it was going to cost about 100 bucks or slightly less than $1 a pound.

Hopefully the trucking guys will chime in and clarify what I'm going to say but I think the most cost effective was "LTL" or something like that. "Terminal to terminal" and then you go to the terminal and get it. You've probably already figured that out though.

Dave,I am in western Colorado, city of Delta(drive red IH tractors, hence 'DeltaRed'). 60 miles from the Colo/Utah border. That's a long ways from Lousianna.
