Fusion balers

McHale in Ireland manufacture the Fusion baler & wrapper, its the main one used over here for silage & haylage.

There are chopping knives behind the pick up reel; and rollers to form the bale.

One bale is being rolled and wrapped in twine mesh whilst the previous bale is being wrapped in plastic. Its a non-stop operation.

Looks like a nice baler. My only question is when using a loader with bale spikes you would be punching holes in the plastic. Wouldn't that defeat part of the purpose of them being plastic wrapped?

Then I guess a person could always carry a roll or two of duck tapes to patch the holes.....

you pick the bales up with a grapple, like this one.

This is the most common type of bale handler here. A small horizontal ram in the main frame squeezes the two forks. The "forks" are free spinning rollers so they don't damage the
wrap.
You can remove the rollers with a nut and underneath are two conventional bale spikes to use to spear {unwrapped} bales.

That's cool as it gets!! Maybe the price will come down, I see where Vermeer is working on one similar. I saw a used Fusion baler advertised $71,000. You would probably need more than 100 cows to pay for that.

(quoted from post at 10:42:09 05/21/15) I'd worry they would roll into the water !! but non stop baling would be great!Mark

The operator will carry a wrapped bale on the platform, and reverse at right angle to drop the bale off across the slope to stop them rolling down hill.

Shows the net being fed into the chamber ready to wrap. And a spare roll on the carrier
