Hope Ya'll Had As Good Of A Day As Me!

First of all, I had a great day at work... Re-stacked 3, 102 bale loads of square bales, after they fell over in the barn... 75 lbs a piece, multiplied by 306, equals somewhere around 23,000 lbs of hay I think! THAT was in a little over 3 hours! :)

Next, me an the "boss" (a good friend) get to talking about my baler, the New Holland 68. He tells me he has an old trashed NH baler in the woods, with a Wisconsin on it, and I should go "check it out". Upon doing so, it turns out to be the IDENTICAL baler to mine!!! NH 68 hayliner, with a wisconsin engine! I tell him about it, and he said "well, every farmer needs a few parts machines, so just go ahead and take that one home with you!" YES SIR! :)

Next, I come home (totally jazzed about my new baler (not home yet) and the fact that I am going to get my Farmall M tomorrow), and there is a message on the machine from a friend of a friend. Lady is 88 years old, her husband isn't doing too well, and they are moving into town she tells me. Said that they had an old tractor, and she wanted me to come look at it before the rest of the tractor club heard about it. "ok!" (I am only 10 miles away) I go check it out, and it is a 1948 John Deere M Standard, with a cute little JD Loader on it. VERY complete original tractor, and I THINK it still turns over!! She told me if I wanted it, come get it or it was going to Japan! WHOA!!!! Yes Ma'am!!!

NEXT I come home, and find hot cookies for the stealing.... Man... Life is gooder than usual today! ;)

Anyway, just had to "spread the joy" a little! Had a good one, made some cash, and got some goodies to bring home! No. 17 that little JD will be...

Hope ALLLLL of you had a good day!

P.S. Today, when I met Dorris (the owner of the JD) she asked me "how are you today young man!" I said what I ALWAYS say when someone asks me that "FANtastic!" :)

She chuckled, and said "well, there is always someone..." ?? I asked what she meant, and she said "In my LONG life (hehe!) I have come to realize that there are many types of people, and every time you see one of them, you either what to talk to them, or you cringe, run, and hide. Then, there are another, small, group of people, that just make you smile. I think you must be one of those people...."

Lets not forget to MAKE time to smile everyday..... Bryce

I bought a JD "MT" with a belly mower one time years ago. If I had bought it a year earlier the engine would have still turned over. I used it for a few years then sold it. We had a red farm...LOL!

Anyway keep taking advantage of those deals Bryce because the older you get they don't come around that often...

Good for you Bryce. You get treated as you treat people, (most of the time, there are always exceptions in this world) But good for you, we love hearing of your adventures.

Good luck with the M. They are neat little tractor to show. One sold at auction near me for $22,500 recently. I was told it was two family members fighting over an estate, so don't get your hopes too high.

Thats pretty cool Bryce about the new toys. But what the Older Lady said i would have gotten more out of. Thats pretty cool. Good Job . Smile

I enjoy "The Bryce Adventures" you post here. AM I correct in that a model M JD is the one with the vertical 2 cyl engine instead of the usual horizontal JD engine? I remember one in our area way back and remember it had a different sound. The guy used it for landscaping with a back blade. Does it have a 3 point hook-up?

Bryce, "Always" be nice to the folks who are nice to you! I'd be extra nice and stop by and visit with her, after all she might not be here for to many years. I've never talked to you before, but you seem to be a great young man... Jim in N.M.

Yes, it has a very small (19 horse or so??) upright two cyl engine. It doesn't make "varying" sounds like the normal two bangers do. They (my JD 40 replaced the M, and is essential the same machine) make a VERY steady pop, pop, pop, pop... Neat sounding to me...

No, the M did not have 3 point, but I think it was easy to convert it to three point? The 40 that replace it (again, what I have) DID have factory three point.... Gooooooood tractor! :)
