Char Lynn hydraulic pump

My Minneapolis Moline UB was born without hydraulics from the factory. Some 50 years ago my Dad had hydraulics added, using Char Lynn components. Several years ago when I took possession of the tractor, I replaced the hoses and rebuilt the control valve, but never had occasion to actually use the hydraulics. Last week I finally had that chance, and discovered that they don't work. I assume that it's the pump which is not working. I suppose from sitting all those years, or maybe being run without oil at some point.

I'm wondering if this Char Lynn pump is rebuildable, and if anyone has done it. Or if not, is there another aftermarket pump which will work?

My UTS has a similar pump. That one just has a hose looped between the two ports, and has been that way for years. I'm wondering now if that one will work either. I was planning to add the reservoir along with the valve and remote outlets to this tractor also at some point. Maybe I'll need two pumps! :(

Need to do some further diagnostics. Check the return line, see if oil is coming back to the tank. If not, the pump is starved or has failed.

If oil is returning to the tank but not building pressure, the pump is probably ok (but depends on what kind of pump), could be plumbed wrong or wrong valves.

Hydraulics can be difficult to diagnose, way too expensive to be guessing! Best have a good plan and get it right the first time.

the pump is rebuildable, but it is also available from napa. its a 64 mustang power steering pump. napa number is nsp846551. if you need the filter that goes in the resevoir, its napa number 1653

something also to check on the pump, there is a big brass nut on the side of the pump body, it is a hex cap plug, above the discharge port. the flow regulator spool valve is inside along with a spring and o ring. slowly remove the cap and be careful the spring doesnt fly out. then remove the spool and clean the port out. flush the hole by rotating the pump shaft with clean automatic trans fluid, type a.

Here is what my pump looks like.
