A few more pictures of what I have so far. Plan to talk to the gal I am building it for and see if she want me to modify it and make it sit lower

Only thing that I might think about is making the rack behind the cab a bit taller to get the dump angle a bit higher.

One question how bad will the bed shake when lowered and traveling down the road. Seems it would rattle a lot but I may not be able to see how it locks down in the pics.

Looking good though

I'm not done wit hit yet. I plan to have a curve piece of iron on each side as a guide like what is used on the big dump trucks. Nice thing is I built that Diamond-T dump truck and a few others so I have btdt before a few times. Also plan a lock down on it but I am waiting for the gal to come look it over before I do more so that way she gets it done the way she wants it

Any content of said bumper stickers I will not make claim to agreeing or disagreeing to LOL . Not my truck so may or may not be how I think LOL

I am still not done with it. I need to improve the dump angle some since what up it will not dump out the vise grips I have laying in the bed, LOL

Move the winch to the other(front) side of the sq. crosspiece, mount a piece of 3" channel vertically to the back side of the crosspieces and fit a roller or pulley to the top of it (length will depend on how much additional lift you need). Run the winch line up over the roller or pulley and down to the lift point on the bed.

Ah but the higher I go the less strong it makes the headache rake plus it also causes a pull towards the back so as to bend the headache rake towards the rear of the truck. I have been looking at that and all and have built a few of these with a winch so yes have ideas of what to do and hope I can lower the bed some also since it sits up too high for my liking

I'm sure you already have a plan but one way to give it more lift would be to put a block or roller below where your cable hooks and hook the cable under the bed. That would give the length of the hook and loop plus the block for more lift. not sure I explained my thought very well. Good luck looks good so far.

Ya I have thought of maybe putting a hook up down and under he bed with either just a hook up or a pulley set up but have only about 6 inches before it would hit the drive shaft plus it is close to a plastic gas tank. So if you figure on say putting 1000lbs or fire wood no how far would the drive shaft come up and maybe hit the piece under where the hook up is now

That would be something to consider. Would the driveshaft have much movement that close to the transmission? Or maybe just put a really slippery bed liner in it. Be interesting to see the final product.

On this truck the end of the transmission is a good 12 inches under the cab so yep drive shaft could move a good bit. AS I think you can understand I have thought this thing out a good bit and trying to come up with something that works but does not cause problems or cost a arm and leg to do. I had thought about going higher on the headache rake but that would hurt the MPG a lot. Sort of guess I should have started taking pictures a bit earlier then I have

Wow, that is an awesome setup, I would never have thought of doing that, Much easier than dealing with hydraulics. I have a M35A2 that I would really like to make into a dump bed, I would need a much larger winch on it though, have to think about this....

On that I think you would be able to have a good bit of hang over on the back of the bed so it would let gravity help with the dumping plus if you where to double up on the cable from the winch you increase lift by almost double

I didn't take much of the rust pictures on this ranger but it is full of rust. 2 reason the bad was off is #1 the drivers side front spring mount had rusted off of it. #2 only 3 of the 6 bolts that hold the bed on where still there due to pulling threw the bed and out the bottom

Had a hay trailer that I set up with hinged racks. I would stack 4 round bales on one side.the racks would barely tilt out when empty.but the bales would stick out about a foot when loaded and that one foot would launch those 4 bales when released!

What about hanging the hinges off the end of the frame? Then you could eliminate the tubing and get the bed down a bit?

It does not have a straight frame and that is why I had to ad the tubing to it so every thing sits level. The frame humps up at the axle area and to do a dump bed you have to make it level front and back

I looked at that also and one problem is the way you put gas into it you have the have a way to let it be and not smash the filler tube which is another reason for having to lift it up some
