Killing BEB's

Box Elder bugs, that is. The little S O B's are really swarming this time of year, and it's warm. I bought a new 2 gal pump sprayer at Menards the other day because I had worn the other 2 out. I just put about 1 1/2 gal of water and about 3 pumps of Palmolive dishwashing liquid, and shake. Kills them dead in about 20 seconds. Anyone else have this problem? If so, what methods do you use?

Yep, just noticed they are out here today. Weren't yesterday. Had called them nnalert bugs for years as they "come out every fall"!

I use the dish soap also. I put it in my power washer and sprayed down the sides of the house. This was back several years ago when they were at their worst. Killed tens of thousands of them. They were piled up on the ledges and ground. That winter I cut down every female box elder on the place. That puts a big dent in the population. Male trees do not have the same appeal.

Dave, I call those female trees the "death trees" as they are loaded with the bugs. I am going to target at least 3 of them this fall with my fantastic Dolmar chain saw. More firewood.

can't beat em, so I just have fun.
wait for them to group up in a sunny place.
bucket full of water and soap.
all at once...whole bucket full...blamm em.
water, soap, bugs, flying everywhere...great fun.
