Old Ugly dorF Truck

Months back the transmission quit transmitting. The Grandson loaded it up and took it to a transmission shop close to Toledo. The Fellow just started on it last week. I just came back from there and the overdrive shaft sheared off. He has ordered three different shafts and none would fit. This shaft runs on a one inch ID bearing and all replacement shafts are for a 1 1/8" ID bearing. He is supposed to be getting a complete kit today with the bearing support and all. He said he has been doing transmissions for 20 years and never seen this part. He said his parts supplier told him it must have been an after market part put in when it was rebuilt before. This will be the third rebuild for me. The will not work on it until next week again. Old ugly has all new brakes, a rebuilt front end with six new tires. Now a rebuilt transmission with what he is calling a dorF update kit which is heaver than the original. 130,000 on the 1994 7.3 so it should take me into eternity.

I've heard if you give a dog a good name they will try liveing up to their name. I shudder to think about the result of you nameing you truck "Old Ugly dorF."

I use derogatory names to ferret out the politically correct. However it was fondly named old ugly dorF by my non political correct friends. I feel it a badge of honor that I have friends that can say what they wish without me getting riled. I also fondly refer my 961 as dorF as well. What kind of wimp would call it Nancy or something like that? :)^D

If you take offence to this I have made my point.

Maybe I should try renaming "old rusty" to "The Millennium Falcon"? LOL.

Have a Happy New Year!

I had an F-150 for awhile, my wife called it P.O.S., that one did live up to it's name !! Still liked the truck myself, but there was always something wrong. Never anything major, but an endless string of little things - I think she 'jinxed' it !!!

good luck with the tranny behind the 7.3, last 1 I had cost me over 3000.00 to fix went out 3 weeks later, ford wanted 10000.00 to fix the problems in the motor needless to say it went to an auction.

Should have bought a manual transmission. I'm a little disappointed Ford has not offered a manual in a pickup for awhile now. My '99 7.3 250 with 6 speed is great.

Good to have a sense of humor. I bought one of those back about a year ago. Took 9 months to get a title, and still have not gotten it started, but getting closer, and in all fairness, the truck had sat for at least 25 years without being started. I joke that I bought an old Ford truck, but try to not hold that against me.
