Got a call from dad this am, he said he had water in the corner of his basement, never had that in 36 years, so brother and me did what we do best, dug it up from him, and put in new footing drain, used most of 22 tons of crushed stone, water left basement, now his Woodstove can dry up the floor. Next spring we can fix the lawn.

Good to see family able to take care of each other. Must be nice to have the equipment at your disposal when needed. Seems lucky to be able to get the stone on a long holiday weekend. Especially in the off season for rock.

Nice job Jay. Im sure your Dad appreciates his men (boys) doing what they do best. You just cant beat playing in the dirt.... Happy New Year

This is a large quarry or company they have over 50 trucks for deliveries, there usually pretty good, called at 9:30 and had the stone by 1:30, but yes we were lucky.

Two of my boys and my grandson helped cut two loads of wood. Nothing like your project, but we had a great time together. So good you could fix the drainage issue for DAd.

Good thing we haven't had a "regular" winter here in the north! You may not have had it so easy with the digging this time of year lol.

Jay we did the same thing to our house years ago. This past weekend was a real test for it too. We had 10.7 inches of rain in less than 72 hours. Our sump pump never shut off for a few hours on Sunday. Had our little generator ready to go just in case the electric went off but it didn't thank goodness.

Good job, but I hope those roots don't get in that pipe. We lifted my brothers old house and dug a full basement under it years ago and it didn't take long for willow tree to find the pipe (plastic S&D pipe) and fill it solid with roots 50 feet to the house and around the side of the house. He doesn't have any willows anymore. I also have a perforated pipe along my driveway I cut the roots out of every year, trees may come down this year.
