Just bought a Pincor 16KW at auction for $350. Was looking for smaller gas powered generator for a bit, but this came along. Decent shape.
Was wondering if I just wasted $350 or did I do ok on it?

My craigslist if full of generators or all sizes. I posted a 70kw I found on tool talk. It's really hard to say the value of your generator without know more. Does it run, engine smoke, does it generate electricity, gas, diesel, LP?

I bought a Pincor 25Kw PTO alternator at auction some years back. I think I paid $100.00 and got it cheap because it looked like it had been through WW3. Turns out it only had a couple hours run time on it but had been stored where pigeons or chickens could cover it. The only thing I was told, after the news I'd stole it that is, was that if it ever broke I was out of luck as parts were hard to very, very hard to find. The guys I took it too really know their stuff, so I assume it's true. It seems Pincor went belly up some time back and used a lot of proprietary parts. The good news is the guys at the electrical shop said it was a very well built unit that might well last 50 years.

A good electric motor shop would be able to service your Pincor or even bring it back to life. Don't know about clean power output though. Unless you test the sine wave output with a scope or test tool I would not want to power anything valuable with it until it was tested. Sensitive electronics in appliances and even some compressors found in refrigerators and particularly HVAC equipment can be damaged, so need to be cautious there. I was told by an electric contractor service manager who specializes in generator installs that a $20 lithium battery charger can be used to test. If it operates normally (indicator lights come on) then your power is pretty clean.

I bought a 50KW Pincor at an auction for $400 back some years ago, and have used it a couple of times. When I park it, it gets a grease job on the universals and an old supplement tub for a cover to keep the trash off. The father of the girl next door works on stand=by's and says there isn't any problem getting parts if they were needed. He also said the Pincors were a super reliable unit...
