O/T Rotten egg smell after stuck in snow

My friend was trying to get home and thought his road didn't look too bad. Long story short, he became stuck in the snow. He rocked the vehicle but eventually ended up idling the truck for a period. He then
left the truck and walked the rest of the way home. Since then, his vehicle has smelled of rotten eggs. He did not seem to know where the smell was coming from. Could snow on a hot converter cause damage?
Is this a fuel issue? Thanks in advance, Aaron

The catalytic converter probly got plugged or something because they will stink like that does he have a tail pipe behind the converter

I think the exhaust got absorbed into the vehicle, the exhaust has sulfuric acid in it and that smells like rotten eggs. It's surprising the driver is still alive. If the catalytic converter was plugged the engine would not run!

Could have shattered the ceramic element inside the "Cat". If it keeps stinking you may be a winner.

Back when they first started putting catalic converters on auto's, the rotten egg smell is what people complained about when they parked in their garage.

Thanks everyone. I will let him know. I could field a few guesses but wanted to bounce this one off of y'all. Aaron

He likely got the transfer unit hot and puked the oil out of it onto the exhaust. Don't know about this particular model, but a lot of these pseudo 4 wheel drive vehicles are using traditional 80-90 in the transfer unit. Gear oil smells like rotten eggs when burned on exhaust pipes. My friend had a Dodge Journey do this, likely the same setup.

Rotten egg smell is hydrogen sulfide. Only 3 places I can think of, battery, sulfur in fuel, or driver drinking beer and eating hard boiled eggs.

We have been having reports of gas leaks. It is turnips/radishes. They are rotting about now. Not very popular with the neighbors. So much for cover crops.

The egg and beer smell can stay in the seat even longer if seat has memory foam. Memory foam
isn't very forgiving, it remembers.
