Dogs riding in vehicles, favourite location ?

My beagle-Jack Russell likes to ride in passenger seat and if wife is with he likes to set on consul between us and on long trips he curls up on back seat and goes to sleep.

My border collie has to be either on the center console or in the front seat where she can see. She likes to hang out the window if she can. She loves the truck. If you leave the window or the tailgate down she'll hang out in it.

I use to have a Austrail shepard that was trained for live stock. When he rode in my cars he wanted nothing to do with the big F 250 pick up. His ride was the Classic cars (1967 Mustang) Or the (66 G.M.C truck). My classics went to the dogs.

(quoted from post at 14:28:27 03/06/16) Our Border Collie Co-Pilot prefers the backseat while looking over the driver's left shoulder .

My Aussie died a couple of years ago but she always like to ride in the passenger seat of my pickup. She was always pretty good until she started telling me how to drive

Our miniature poodle likes to sleep in the passenger seat when it is just him with me. When we slow down in towns he stands and looks out the passenger side window. He gets excited when he sees kids and cars moving if we are not. Dandy the little horse stands in the back with his head over the console with his nose on my arm most of the time. He does look around out the side windows some when we slow down.

My little Rat dog spent a couple hundred thou miles riding here.
She found it on her own. She was never much interested in what was going on outside but she always wanted to go.

I had a Chow male that rode all over the US in the pickup or semi. In the car he would ride on the back floor board and never even get up on the seat. If he was in the truck or semi he rode in the passenger seat looking out the window. IF you wanted to ride along you had to set in the middle or he would set on your lap. He refused to ride in the middle in the truck or pickup. LOL

Followed a pickup into town one day. Dog was in the backseat going from one side to the other sticking it's head out the window each time he changed sides. Truck went around a sharp curve just as the dog went to that side and he shot right out of the window. Rolled a couple of times and took off after the pickup.

Paper today had a picture of a semi truck with a dog looking out the drivers side window that had crashed into a tree in MN. The driver had left it running in a parking lot with his dog in the cab. Article didn't say the dog did anything but when the guy that shut the truck off got there he said the dog was in the drivers seat.

my basset lab mix likes to sit in either the middle right under my elbow or passenger seat the chow retriever mix would lay on passenger side seat.
once when we came home he didn't want to get out so i tried help him. he started to growl at me so i said okay you can stay here until you ready he laid down on floor boards i left the door open he went to sleep he slept there for a couple of hours.
good dog we miss lots he died on nov 14 2015 about like losing a family member. i fact we will miss him more than some than some family members

I am not a dog owner but I have been unpleasantly surprised on several occasions by dogs riding on the passenger side of vehicles that would bark right in my ear as the vehicle passed me while I was riding my bicycle along the right hand edge of the road. It is a very startling experience and always a good heart rate booster. At least in that position they are restrained from biting me, which is much worse than being barked at.

Mutt rode shotgun for 13 years with me gave more than a few smiles I lost her last year . I miss her so much she was my only family

I love that picture, Brendon. Now that is the way to raise a boy!!
I have had a lot of dogs in my many years, always big ones. I had a pointer that would ride shotgun and bark at oncoming traffic, also try to catch the windshield wipers. I now have a Chessy and a Springer who both try to get into passenger seat at same time. Needless to say, always a lot of drama when I take my "girls" for a ride!!

My bordor collie rides with my dad in his mini truck. People stare when they pass cars because it looks like the dog is driving.

We are dog sitting my son's dachshund this week while he is in Tenn. I usually avoid all dogs and cats.We went over to my daughters tonight and took Hank with us. I took him out to the car, opened the back door and he just sat there looking at me. I said "get in" and he jumps up into the back seat. I walked around and got behind the wheel Hank jumps in the front seat while I'm waiting for the wife. I said get in the back, Hank turns around and jumps in the back. I didn't raise my voice, just told him what to do and he did it. Hank has me convinced he's a pretty smart dog.

My dog rides on the passenger side floorboard. Wifes dog prefers the back seat in the middle. My preference for them is in the box of the pickup.

Back in the 50's I had a neighbor who was a NYS Forest Ranger.
He was assigned a Pickup with firefighting gear and lots of fire rakes and such for fighting forest fires.
He had a beagle mix dog who would jump on to the top of the cab and somehow hang on to the "bubble-gum machine" light and ride to all his fire calls. It was a sight to behold!!
Thanks for reminding me....I hadn't thought of that it in a long time.

Yep - That's how my Schipperke rolls.

My little dog likes to sit right in my lap and look around, she is too short to see out otherwise. When my dad was young he drove a milk truck and his Newfoundland would ride on top of the cab, if he lost him on a turn he would stop, the dog would jump back on, and away they went.

Mine ride in the back of the Excursion unless the "little princess" (95# GSD) feels like she needs to ride in the back seat by herself. On the property, they ride on everything. Boat, Cushman, Zero Turn if I'd let him...

(quoted from post at 08:29:39 03/07/16) I have a mutt, she's getting old now but she will ride anywhere in the vehicle as long as she's going for ice cream!

My dog likes the plain cheese burger from McDonalds. Mrs B&D keeps throwing a fit saying that I'm trying to kill the dog.
