Implements For Unstyled A

Can anyone list the implements for the John Deere Unstyled A (I have a '37)? The plow, disk, drill/planter, sickle mower, rake, baler if there was one, and such? Implements to get all the jobs done...

There used to be a reprint of "Better Farming" for 1937. It was an annual catalog of all of Deeres offerings. That would be a better choice than just us listing things. Not that we don't want to help you in your quest, but because there were A LOT of items!

Ok, thanks, I'll check it out.

Don't think balers, combines and pickers like we think of today didn't happen much until after WWII. Might look for binders and hay loaders

Where not many pieces of equipment made just to fit that one tractor other then maybe cultivators and loaders. Plows and disk and balers where made to pretty much fit a tractor by HP rating. I.E. I have a JD 2-14 plow that I have pulled with my 1935 JD-B and also pulled it with an A/C C and a couple other tractors and it worked fine on all of them

Maybe do a search on ebay for john deere cultivators and such in the collectible section, I've seen some listed there. Dad had a 37 B he had a 2 row front mounted cultivator for it, same cultivator would fit a A also. Alot of the mounted implements ( bedders , planters etc.)would fit more than one model tractor.

Sorry, the title is Power Farming with Greater Profit. There is at least one listed on ebay. (I am not the seller) In it you will find grain binders, combines, corn pickers, corn shellers, hay equipment, plows, cultivators, etc. Deere's lineup of ag equipment was probably more diverse back then than today.

Look for a J.D. pocket ledger for 1936-37 or 37-38, there are implements in them for that time period. Model numbers, etc.

The cultivator for a 37 B and that would be a short frame tractor would not fit a A, The long frame 38 B did tho and that is why they changed from short frame to long frame on the B.

They did make both a 1 row mounted No. 15 and No. 25 2 row mounted picker for the unstyled A. And they did make a 2 row mounted picker for the wide tread GP that was before the unstyled A.

Leroy, are you sure about the long/short frame 37 B? I thought that the the early 1937 model was a short frame and latter that year they came out with the long frame . Checked one of my JD books where they have a serial number break for them. Starting with serial number 42200 for the long frame.

Robert, I have some books Operation and Care of John Deere Farm Machinery. They show all kinds of implements pulled by tractors and how to set up and maintain them. You still have my # ? How is the A running these days? Regards Ron Mn.

Hi Ron,

That sounds like a good book to own. I will try and look for it. We moved back home to southern Wisconsin and now looking for some acreage in there area. The A is running good. I just fired it up for the first time this year. I'll send here 2 links where you can see the A running and later plowing from last September.
